The unique selling point (USP) of the EPM Telescopic Magnetic Lifting Beams are the electrically driven telescopic arms, which enable the lifting and transporting of sheets in different sizes from 3 m to 25 m.

Assfalg was recently able to sell and support the installation of 2 EPM Telescopic Magnetic Lifting Beams TB6-25T (T= telescope, B= beam, 6 cross arms with 2 EPM magnetic modules each, 25 tonnes lifting force) on site.

The requirements were:

• On the one hand to lift loads of up to 25 tonnes and on the other hand to lift and transport sheets of various formats up to 25 metres in length.
• Another requirement was that all functions of the lifting beam could be operated and controlled from the crane operator's cab using an HMI. It was also required that this lifting beam should function reliably in maritime weather conditions.
• Solid steel EPM magnet modules (patented)
• Inching (= tip function) for separating sheets from 8 mm in the stack
• Regulation of the adhesive force levels (4 levels)
• Selectable zones. Magnetic modules that are not required can be switched off. This also allows a large magnetic traverse system to be used safely for transporting smaller sheets.

The traverses were specially built for our customer to meet these requirements.

Performance characteristics:

• Workpiece dimensions: Length: 5,000 - 25,000 mm, width: 1,000 - 3,000 mm, sheet thickness: from at least 8 mm (depending on sheet dimensions)
• Maximum load capacity: 25 tonnes

Variable lengths of telescopic arms:

• From 15,9 m to 20,9 m with an extension of 2,5 m on each side.
